Immigration? Join the discussion!

In response to the Immigration debate and an opinion piece that I read in the Washington Post entitled From Ellis Island to an electrified fence, why America is so torn on immigration,  I personally have no gripes with immigrants coming to our country legally. After all, that is how our great country was built. Every one of us has a family member that originally came to this country from some foreign country. My major concern is when we allow people... [Read More...]

Think you can vote in the Presidential Preference Primary? Check your voter registration!

New to Florida?  Don’t vote at every election (municipal, primary, general)?  Why not?! Many of us are all fired up and ready to vote in the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary on January 31.  But not all folks know that Florida is a ‘closed primary’ state – which means that one can only vote in the primary for the candidate(s) in the party in which one is registered.  If you are NPA (no party affiliation) or registered... [Read More...]

Patriotic Poem

From Border to Boarder by Paula Maxwell   I love you from border to border And from sea to shining blue sea When you’re wearing your star spangled banner You’re a sight for the eyes to perceive   I love all your snow covered mountains And the eagles who nest in your trees I love all your valleys and Rivers That peacefully flow to the sea   I’ll defend you whenever you need me And I pray to God it won’t be And... [Read More...]

Smart Meters Part II

Smart Meters Part II I wanted to wait until I had written confirmation from FPL but in light of the massive roll out of Smart Meters on Floridian’s homes I am posting the current information. First and foremost I have been put on what FPL is calling a delay list. It is a start. While the Occupy Wall Street protesters are out protesting, I wonder if they realize Smart Meters are taking over their homes. Do they understand who the new big players... [Read More...]

Anne Gannon featured at Wellington Gathering

Guest Speaker, Constitutional Palm Beach County Tax Collector, Anne Gannon, spoke to a full room about the upcoming charter review being done by the Palm Beach County Commission. Typically, these reviews are done by volunteer citizens; however, the county commission appointed themselves as the charter review committee. One item that has been discussed for a charter change is eliminating the elected constitutional officers and replacing them with appointees.... [Read More...]

Ready for Solyndra II?

Another failing solar company is being showered with our money by the Obama administration.  This time, it’s a company called SunPower, and they’re getting over twice the money that Solyndra did – $1.2 Billion!  Sure sounds like a safe investment to me – after all, the company is only $820M in debt. And, like Solyndra, SunPower has the fingerprints of Democrat donors and politically connected people all over it.  It also... [Read More...]
