PBC Charter Review – Call to Action – Deadline August 26th

Back in June, the County began public meetings about its ongoing Charter Review.  If you recall – the County Charter is its ‘constitution’ and describes Home Rule. There are 20 Home Rule or Charter Counties in Florida. Palm Beach County does not have a formalized Charter Review process, and this is the first comprehensive review to have taken place. The Charter and the county’s charter review website can be found here. While there are a few... [Read More...]

Redistricting – Incumbent Protection or Citizen Input? You decide.

Fred and I attended the Florida Redistricting Public Meeting conducted at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton today, August 16. We didn’t know quite what to expect – eg. who would be attending, or to whom we would be addressing our comments. As it turned out, the majority of the speakers were from various interest groups, with the League of Women Voters being the best represented, as well as the most aggressive about their issues.... [Read More...]

Ruby Red Tape- A Case study in the costs of regulation

An article below appearing in the Opinion section of the Wall Street Journal in August 16, 2011 edition is worthy of reading and understanding what Allen West said last night at the Palm Beach County Tea Party meeting.  The current administration has so many barriers in place to constrain businesses from investing—the EPA’s environmental impact statement process is tantamount to putting shackles and handcuffs on private sector investment. ... [Read More...]

Jupiter/PBG Chapter Kicks Off with Overflow Crowd

Following successful launches of the Boca and Wellington chapters last week, the Palm Beach County Tea Party launched in Palm Beach Gardens with a 400+ overflow crowd to hear keynote speaker Congressman Allen West, CD22. After the debt ceiling debate and the Congressman’s vote for the Boehner “deal”, many tea party members were questioning the strategy and wondered if he had taken a walk on the dark side. They were willing to... [Read More...]

Palm Beach County Gun Show

I spent my Saturday morning working our table at the gun show, and I am so stoked I just have to share it.  It was fascinating to stand there and watch such a cross section of America.  The ages went from toddlers to octogenarians; they were all races, all nationalities; from well-dressed couples to tattoo’d guys that look like they had just ridden their motorcycles 500 miles to get there.  I saw kids with purple hair, and kids being carried... [Read More...]

Colonel Mike McCalister Highlights Wellington Chapter Meeting

Expecting 50 people, over 80 attended the meeting at Bink’s Forest Country Club.  We opened with a song….the Star Spangled Banner by Maria Bennett. Gina Rascati, Central County Co-Ordinator stressed the need to organize in order to effect success in 2012 by delivering 27 electoral votes from Florida.  Col. McCalister gave a passionate presentation invoking several ovations from the crowd.  Gina Rascati wrapped up the meeting by emphasizing... [Read More...]

Our Congressmen Respond

When the debt ceiling was raised, we wondered “Now What?” The four Congressmen who represent Palm Beach County cast their votes for different reasons and many of their constituents were not happy with their votes. So we asked them some specific questions about their reasoning and where we go from here. We also asked them to respond in writing for posting here on the website. Congressman Alcee Hastings voted against the debt limit bill... [Read More...]

PBCTP Kicks Off With Boca Raton Chapter Meeting

The first ever monthly chapter meeting for the newly formed Palm Beach County Tea Party went off without a hitch this past Monday night, August 8th, at the Boca Greens Country Club in Boca Raton, FL. The doors opened at 5:30, and many familiar faces streamed in and joined the fellowship, and there were many new faces, as well. We can never have too many patriots amongst our ranks! Dinner was served, and more than 100 people enjoyed a sumptuous buffet,... [Read More...]

When Will Folks Figure Out That the Federal Government Simply Does not Deliver as Promised

In spite of the federal government’s best intentions, they simply do not deliver what they say they are going to deliver.  Furthermore, when they do deliver, it ends up costing 10 to 20 times what they originally said it was going to cost.  In the private sector, doing this just one time would get folks fired yet we continue to empower our government to do this over and over and over again?  Why?  Here are just a few examples. The United States... [Read More...]
