Immigration? Join the discussion!
In response to the Immigration debate and an opinion piece that I read in the Washington Post entitled From Ellis Island to an electrified fence, why America is so torn on immigration, I personally have no gripes with immigrants coming to our country legally. After all, that is how our great country was built.
Every one of us has a family member that originally came to this country from some foreign country. My major concern is when we allow people to come through our borders and have no check on them to see if they’re criminals or terrorists. They also take the jobs, get benefits and strain our economy.
We need a strong President who will close our borders, and enforce the laws already on the books. We don’t need to have more regulations, we just need someone who knows how to lead and enforce the regulations we already have.
Let’s all work together and look forward to 2012 when we can really make a difference at the voting booth!!!!

Think you can vote in the Presidential Preference Primary? Check your voter registration!
New to Florida? Don’t vote at every election (municipal, primary, general)? Why not?!
Many of us are all fired up and ready to vote in the upcoming Presidential Preference Primary on January 31. But not all folks know that Florida is a ‘closed primary’ state – which means that one can only vote in the primary for the candidate(s) in the party in which one is registered. If you are NPA (no party affiliation) or registered in a party other than Republican or Democrat (should President Obama have an opponent qualified in the primary) – you will not be able to vote for the Republican or Democrat Party candidates.
So take a look at your voter registration card and make sure that you’re registered in the party in whose primary you plan to vote. No? Then you have until January 3, 2011 to change your registration (or to register to vote if you’re not already).
Information on how to register or modify your registration can be found at the Supervisor of Elections Voter Registration website page. Upcoming elections and the voter registration cut-off dates for each can be found at Upcoming Elections. And get familiar with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections website, because it has lots of invaluable information on precinct makeup, registrations by party, election results and answers to questions you may have on everything voter related in the county. Check it out!
Patriotic Poem
From Border to Boarder
by Paula Maxwell
I love you from border to border
And from sea to shining blue sea
When you’re wearing your star spangled banner
You’re a sight for the eyes to perceive
I love all your snow covered mountains
And the eagles who nest in your trees
I love all your valleys and Rivers
That peacefully flow to the sea
I’ll defend you whenever you need me
And I pray to God it won’t be
And I’m ready whenever you call me
My sweet land of the brave and the free
And one day when my life is over
And my soul in eternity sleeps
Cover me with the star spangled banner
In the warmth of the brave and the free

Smart Meters Part II
Smart Meters Part II
I wanted to wait until I had written confirmation from FPL but in light of the massive roll out of Smart Meters on Floridian’s homes I am posting the current information.
First and foremost I have been put on what FPL is calling a delay list. It is a start. While the Occupy Wall Street protesters are out protesting, I wonder if they realize Smart Meters are taking over their homes. Do they understand who the new big players really are? One woman I know has referred to FPL as the “Utility Barons”. Like taxes and healthcare, if something affects every man, woman and child should not there be open discussions? Mandatory installations on everyone’s home does not sound like the America I grew up in. Will all this data flowing freely back and forth prove to be unhealthy? My Dad always said for answers look to nature. If you have already have Smart Meters on your homes watch your pets especially dogs, cats and birds for any changes in health or behaviors.
I am by no means an expert on this matter and much of the technical information is beyond my understanding, but I will stand firm on the principal that when it comes to our individual homes what comes into them is a fundamental right. Why is there no Opt Out option? What is the rush? Why are utility companies pushing so hard to install a smart meter on every house, apartment, retail and commercial building in this country. Look no further than $2 trillion dollar “Smart Grid”. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2386828,00.asp#fbid=Sm7eS3qXZEG and http://www.smartmeters.com/the-news/smart-grid-news/2703-washington-electric-cooperative-received-smart-grid-loan.html
What you can do: Call and email Heidi Ellenberger. Customers can get their addresses put on FPL’s no wireless meter code list. heidi.ellenberger@FPL.com 305-552-2950.

Smart Meter and Rare Earth Metals: Not really rare.
“Tin, tungsten, tantalum, and gold are essential to the performance of our SMART technology used in cell phones, laptops, digital cameras and other high-end consumer electronics. These minerals are sourced from eastern Congo, home to the deadliest conflict in the world since World War II. Over 5 million people have died, and rape is epidemic. The armed militias and soldiers committing atrocities in Congo make hundreds of millions of dollars per year on the illicit trade in Congo’s minerals. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/video/2011/sep/02/congo-blood-gold-mobile-phones-video?CMP=twt_iph

Anne Gannon featured at Wellington Gathering
Guest Speaker, Constitutional Palm Beach County Tax Collector, Anne Gannon, spoke to a full room about the upcoming charter review being done by the Palm Beach County Commission. Typically, these reviews are done by volunteer citizens; however, the county commission appointed themselves as the charter review committee. One item that has been discussed for a charter change is eliminating the elected constitutional officers and replacing them with appointees. The workshop in which the county commission will decide what to put on the November 2012 ballot is scheduled for November 29th in the chambers at the Governmental Center. Anne encouraged the audience to contact the County Commissioners and voice their opinion.
Terry Brady announced that he was very pleased with the Gold Rush Party hosted by Mel and Barbara Grossman because it was a big success, having put $500 in our coffers. He invited members to host more parties to raise money for us. Pam Wohlschlegel gave details on the November Tea Party Convention in Daytona Beach and her efforts to secure a bus for us. Gina Rascati thanked Anne Gannon for coming and apprising us of the upcoming charter review and appreciated all the questions posed by the audience. Binks Forest provided a delicious chicken parmesian and fish entry, salad, bread, vegetables, coffee, tea and scrumptious petit feurs for desert. The meeting ended with a well versed, well fed group of patriots ready to make a difference.

Ready for Solyndra II?
Another failing solar company is being showered with our money by the Obama administration. This time, it’s a company called SunPower, and they’re getting over twice the money that Solyndra did – $1.2 Billion! Sure sounds like a safe investment to me – after all, the company is only $820M in debt.
And, like Solyndra, SunPower has the fingerprints of Democrat donors and politically connected people all over it. It also turns out that they’ve announced that they’ll be opening a new plant to make solar panels – in Mexico. The net benefit for the $1.2 Billion will be 15 new permanent jobs – a lofty sum of $80M per job (at least until they go bankrupt.
Watch for this one in the news… the bad dream continues.
